As befits such a cruising yacht, Highlander carries a wealth of navigational aids and equipment, most of which are duplicated in case of any instrument failure, and a backup system comes into play.
Equipment on board (included in sale) will be as follows:
RADIOS
Skanti TRP6000 – for long range communication
Yaesu HF Transever FT840 – for long range communication
M.Tech 3X35 VHF system, with distress beacon (16 channel)
VHF SD72 Unit (16 channel)
ICOM Handheld VHF (16 channel)
2 x Small portable VHF ‘walkie talkie’ units – for shore party communication to yacht.
GPS SYSTEM
A RAYTHON GPS is installed at the navigation table
A new Garmin GPS handheld unit (2012) is also found on board
WEATHER FORCASTING
A Constant digital readout on weather for the location of the yacht is provided by a Clipper Navtech Installation.
AUTOPILOT
A sophisticated Seatalk 16/300 autopilot is installed with complete backup system in the event of a failure.
DEPTH SOUNDER
The depthsounding is provided by a NASA instruments installation, and also by a Brooks and Gatehouse depthsounder.
WIND DIRECTION SPEED INDICATOR
Information is fed from the masthead to the NASA instruments display unit.
RUDDER INDICATOR
There are twin rudder indicator electric readout instruments for both steering positions.

SHIPS TENDER
A 9′ fibreglass tender is carried aft on stainless steel davits, with a 4hp Johnston twin cylinder outboard motor.
OTHER DETAILS
The yacht has two helm positions, one externally on the aft sun deck behind plated glass screen, and the second helm position is internal, main saloon, port side.
All instrumentation is duplicated to both positions, and teleflex controls the variable pitch installation.
The yacht is fitted with complete winter white awning covers and also a new sun awning has been commissioned for the aft deck (2012.)
